Adolescents and Teenagers
Adolescence can be a challenging time as teenagers come into new awareness of themselves and as they encounter significant personal stressors. As a result, they may feel overwhelmed by a wide range of emotions that can trigger low self-esteem and uncertainty while they confront demands of competition, peer pressure, and new relationships. At times, teenagers may retreat, internalizing their struggles or act out. We work with adolescents to help them effectively overcome their distress and to establish positive self-confidence and express their own voice.
Adult Adjustments and Stress Management
Our practice serves a large adult population concerning a wide range of mental health concerns. Adjusting to adult life requires balancing numerous demands and roles brought upon by career, multiple relationships, family life, and changing personal goals. Trauma and Abuse
Trauma results from severely distressful circumstances that may create signficant bodily and emotional damage. We carefully assess the impact of such experiences, with the goal to end threats that hamper their life from unmanageable circumstances. Treatment involves overcoming the ramifications from such damaging history. By creating safe environments, we help patients to stabilize themselves, facilitating healing healthy settings where one works through their trauma to move beyond the traumatic block to a place where they may thrive.
Treatment of Anxiety and Depression
Many people are experience anxiety and depression in modern society; however, as anxiety and depression are brought on by a complexity of factors, these emotionally complex experiences require proper assessment and treatment. By approaching anxiety and depression from a holistic perspective, we assess the multiple dynamics that affect one’s life to determine the treatments of choice to diminish emotional problems.
Mood and Personality Disorders
Our integrative program for treating the range of mood disorders and personality problems (including depressive, bipolar, avoidant, obsessive-compulsive, borderline, avoidant, histrionic, dependent, antisocial, narcissistic, paranoid, schizoid, schizotypal behavior) draws upon psychodynamic, integrative, and cognitive-behavioral therapies and medical interventions, as needed. Left untreated these patterns may impose burdensome limitations on life and disrupt significant relationships. We show patients how to navigate these problems developing and maintain supportive relationships in this process.

Intimacy and sexuality are understood uniquely by each individual, and contrary to the impressions from life in our highly sexualized culture, most people do not understand their own sexual self, needs, and behaviors or those of their intimate partners. The experience of fulfilling sexuality is the goal of sex therapy. Sex therapy also treats specific sexual problems and dysfunctions as well as personal problems related to intimacy and affectionate behavior. Marital Infidelity
Infidelity creates a shocking and traumatic impact in a relationship, damaging marital trust and the dreams for a life-long loving marriage. Those who have broken their trust with their spouse, as well as those who have made the discovery of infidelity of their spouse do not need to see this as a sentence for ending their relationship. Separation, Divorce and Mediation Therapy
Partners in a marriage may feel that they no longer wish to maintain a relationship together. Determining such action requires great care. While substantial implications occur when a couple decides to divorce—the children in a marriage especially suffer from the damaging impact of the breakdown of their family and home. It is critical to take appropriate steps to minimize contentious dynamics and avoid pitfalls that frequently accompany divorce for minimizing the pain and distress of all family members. Our staff assists the couple and family to identify their concerns and supports healing of the emotional overload that accompanies marital breakups.
Divorce, Parenting Programs, and Stepparent Families
Because of the emotional drain of emotional and legal demands, parents are often unable to attune adequately to the heightened feelings and needs of their children. Children often feel caught in the middle of their parents’ struggles. As a result, children become alienated or turn away from their homes which may introduce further personal struggles and difficulties. Establishing healthy guidance for children that retains positive family structures and provides firm and loving care with authoritative balance becomes essential. Family Therapy
We work to help family members respect and appreciate the strengths and contributions of each family member. We provide guidance for building strong family ties to deepen meaningful relationships forged by helping family members understand each other’s viewpoints, feelings, and needs. Through our program, the family learns how to place its energy into team building by establishing workable methods for meeting each other’s needs and by learning how to communicate effectively, supportively, and responsibly to one another.
